Template Website Setup
If you have the need for a quick website solution, sometimes setting up a website with a pre-designed template is the best route.
Hire a Webmaster vs. Do it Yourself
Many clients are tempted to setup templates themselves. While this may seem tempting, you may regret it later on when you need to make changes to your brand and/or manipulate the structure of the template. We are fully capable of taking an existing template and manipulating it to work for your brand. While we do recommend custom website design for the majority of websites, sometime there may be a template that just works. By having a webmaster put together a template for you, you save yourself the headache of doing it yourself and ensure the following:
- Proper Search Engine Optimization Coding – a template cannot provide the level of search engine optimization that a webmaster can perform manually.
- Custom Headers – most templates enable you to add a logo and change the colors of the header. A webmaster is capable of getting into the template source code and ensuring that the header appears the way you want.
- Manipulating Layout – templates typically have a default layout. Manipulating layout is often only possible within the templates’ source code.
- Adding Widgets – websites always need to grow and often you’ll want to add widgets and other features later on. A webmaster can find you the right widget and/or make you one from scratch.
Template Manipulation Examples
Small Business Template Website
Alex’s Bait & Tackle is a small New Jersey business that came to us needing a new website setup quickly. They wanted to easily update the website and control navigation items. We took a beautifully designed WordPress template and customized it to work for Alex’s. Below is a snapshot of how it came out.
News/Blog Template Website Setup
The Daily Wrestle is a website for reporting and commenting on Pro Wrestling News. We utilized an existing Drupal theme for this website. We made major changes to the structure of the templates layout and header. Using custom CSS, HTML and PHP coding, we were able to make it work for this brand.
